THE SCREEN ACTORS’ BOOTCAMP W/ NIC BISHOP

ABOUT NIC BISHOP

Australian actor NIC BISHOP has enjoyed a more than 20-year career that has spanned Television, Film, and Theater.  He is perhaps best known to International audiences for his starring role in the ABC network crime drama BODY OF PROOF, in which he played medico-legal investigator Peter Dunlop, for 3 seasons, and also his starring role in the USA network original international spy drama COVERT AFFAIRS as Ryan McQuaid, a former Navy Seal turned private contractor billionaire who retained a taste and talent for field work.

 

He recently had the unique opportunity to play 3 completely different roles across 2 seasons of DC LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. Something that is very rarely done in network television. He had a recurring role on season 1 of TRUTH BE TOLD, Apple's first drama series, opposite Octavia Spencer, Aaron Paul, Lizzy Caplan, Elizabeth Perkins and more, and a recurring role on the FX network drama series SNOWFALL.  His last feature film, THE JESUS REVOLUTION (Lionsgate) with Joel Courtney and Kelsey Grammer, is in post production, and will be released globally in 2023. His most recent film to hit the cinemas, THE ROYAL, in which he plays Baseball Hall of Fame legend, George Brett, is now streaming. 


Other film credits include THE LEARS, which premiered at the Nashville International Film Festival, and had much festival acclaim. He stars alongside Anthony Michael Hall, Sean Astin and Bruce Dern. WOODLAWN, in which he was the lead opposite Jon Voight, Sean Astin, and C.Thomas Howell. STAY THEN GO, THE MENTOR, BLACK LIMOUSINE, PUNISHMENT, WALKING ON WATER, MY MOTHER FRANK, POWDERBURN, OCCASIONAL COARSE LANGUAGE, THE SUGAR FACTORY. 

He is attached to various other projects in development, and is due to start filming 

his next feature, which he is also attached as a producer, in the new year in Europe. 

His Television credits include DC LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (CW/NETFLIX), TRUTH BE TOLD (Apple Tv+), SNOWFALL (FX), SCALPED (WGN), DOMINION (SCI-Fl), COVERT AFFAIRS (USA), CASTLE (ABC), CSI (CBS), NCIS: LOS ANGELES (CBS), HOT IN CLEVELAND (TV LAND), THE GLADES (A+E), BODY OF PROOF (ABC), NECESSARY ROUGHNESS (USA), PAST LIFE (FOX), and the Australian series ; McLEOD'S DAUGHTERS, HOME AND AWAY, COMEDY INC, WHITE COLLAR BLUE, ALL SAINTS, FARSCAPE, BLUE HEELERS, FLAT CHAT, ABOVE THE LAW, HEARTBREAK HIGH, MURDER CALL, WATER RATS, and WILDSIDE. 


Nic has been a sought-after screen acting teacher for more than 20 years and has taught across the world: from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, London, South Africa, Canada, to Los Angeles. Nic is a graduate from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, Australia. He created the 2-year ‘THE SCREEN ACTOR’ program for the NIDA Open Program, and has worked extensively with the NIDA full-time and part-time programs, as well as many other studios and institutes, including of course AAFTA.

ABOUT THE COURSE

THE SCREEN ACTORS’ BOOTCAMP is a 6 week course for skilled professional auditioning actors. with Australian actor Nic Bishop.  


With a huge emphasis on "Creating a character", and addressing each part of the actors craft in order to create full, layered and challenging characters on screen. Using exercises that delve deeper into becoming a character in ways that you may not have done before.  


The audition process will also be dealt with in regards to how to take this scenework and character work, and elevate it for a self-tape or in room casting session.  


  • Participants must have a strong level of work ethic and training already going into the course. 
  • Participants will work on (3) different scenes, that will be dissected and re-worked for two weeks each.
  • Covering all aspects of script analysis, creating character, and problem solving for all aspects of the creative process.  
  • All scene work will be 2-3 pages in duration, to allow all scenes to be re-worked and detailed notes given. 
  • 12 PEOPLE MAXIMUM
